Early Parenting Workshop

 “The greatness of the human personality begins at the hour of birth.” Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

This class welcomes parents looking for an alternative to ‘traditional’ birthing classes. Guided by a trained Montessori Director of Assistants to Infancy, parents will have the

opportunity to discuss aspects of child development that will be helpful after birth, during the early weeks with their baby.

Topics of discussion include:

  • Introduction to Montessori
  • Setting Up Your Home – The Prepared Environment
  • The First 2 Months – Symbiosis and the Birth of a New Family
  • Development of Movement
  • Development of Language
  • Bathing a Baby and Physical Care
  • Choosing developmentally appropriate materials and equipment.
  • Development of Independence
  • The Role of a Second Parent
  • Sleep Issues
The workshop is suitable for parents in their last trimester of pregnancy. Classes run over three Saturday mornings.
